In November 2019 I developed a new body of work, directly inspired by textures and colours I observed while walking along the Ogmore coastline. The rock formation is so varied, from smooth undulating, pale grey surfaces to nearly black, highly textured and rough to the touch. The grassy banks, heather, gorse and sea holly add to the rich colour palette. In short it’s one of my favourite places to be, and I walk my dog there whenever I have the opportunity! The work I created reflects the features of the area, and through experimenting with combustible materials, and metals, I achieved pitted and highly textured ceramic surfaces. The finished exhibition at Crafts in the Bay, Cardiff, combined framed and unframed wall pieces, rock sculptures, jewellery, and vessels.
