Lisa-Marie Tann
About
Lisa-Marie Tann  studied ceramics and design at Howard Gardens, in Cardiff, South Wales and attained a BA Hons. She has always worked in the arts, having a wide range, and depth of experience in working in a number of community and educational environments.
As with many artists she combines a career in teaching, and her own arts practice. Lisa-Marie works in a local SEN school as arts coordinator specialising in working with PMLD and pupils with profound autism. Having worked in arts and education for over 25 years she recognises the huge impact and positive effect creative expression and learning has.
Over the past six years Lisa-Marie has focused on her own ceramic practice and has secured an Arts Council grant enabling her to progress her work further, resulting in a solo exhibition in Oriel Canfas, Cardiff and exhibiting her work in a number of venues. Since then she has become a member of the Guild in Crafts in the Bay, Cardiff and has her work on show in a number of galleries and stockists in South Wales.
Lisa-Marie is also a founding member of Cardiff Arts Collective and helps organise and facilitate exhibitions, events and art fairs. She is also a member of Seven 14; a new arts group based in South Wales.

Lisa-Marie often uses her surroundings as a source of inspiration; for example the exposed rock strata found in the cliffs on the South Wales coast, the landscapes of the Brecon Beacons, and reflections found in rivers and the Bay.
Texture, imagery and colour are vital elements in the work and she combines photographic imagery, and found objects with layers of slips, glazes, metals, combustible materials and glass with multiple firings.
The unpredictability of the materials can be equally frustrating and exciting. The alchemy of mixing and transforming different elements, found objects, glazes and imagery keeps the work fresh and unique.
More recently Lisa-Marie has produced illustration artwork, using drawings and collage for both paper work and in combination with her ceramics.
